Things you don’t know about me:
1. I put off writing #1 until last because I felt like the first thing should be something impressive. Now I just want to get this published, so I’ll fill it in with the first thing that comes to mind.
2. I like cookies. A lot. You don’t have to know me long in person to find this out, but I suspect it comes
3. My husband and I dated for 6.5 years before we got married.
4. I am/was a pretty serious Diet Coke junkie, but I’m trying to get down to a normal(-ish) amount.
5. I went through a phase in high school and college where I tried to brush my teeth in unusual places, so I’ve brushed them at the top of the Eiffel Tower, inside Westminster Abbey, on the Golden Gate Bridge, on top of a mountain…
6. I love to travel and have done kind of a lot of it.
7. I have a lifetime goal to visit all 50 states. So far I’ve been to 38.
8. I became a vegetarian when I was 12, but
9. I started eating fish again when I was 21, but
10. I’ve mostly stopped eating it and am back to total vegetarianism now. Fish is reserved for like, eating in a restaurant with the in-laws and having to either eat fish or eat nothing and be an obnoxious vegetarian.
11. I was a swimmer in high school.
12. My middle name is my mom’s last name.
13. I used to have a cat named after Madeleine Albright.
14. I was (and still am) a Girl Scout.
15. I worked at Girl Scout camp for four summers after being a camper for eight.
16. Working at camp taught me a whooole lot of kid-appropriate songs that I use in storytime when they fit the theme. Ducks? I know five songs about ducks! Frogs? Seven!
17. I’ve always been a reader, but librarian-ing has taken it to a whole new level.
18. I’m terrible at Scrabble, because I’m always trying to save up to spell something impressive and do a whole lot of “an” and “ox” and “so” things in the mean time.
19. I like to play Nintendo.
20. But I love board games.
21. I read zines but am too chicken to write one.
22. Too chicken, and too lazy.
23. My first car was a 1986 Honda Civic called Old Grey Mare, because she was old, grey, and she ain’t what she used to be.
24. My second, current car is a 1998 Civic called Darth Vader.
25. I like Star Wars, but only the original three. Okay, and I thought Revenge of the Sith was good, too.
26. I wanted to leave during Attack of the Clones, but didn’t because a) my friend had the keys and b) I figured I couldn’t complain about it if I hadn’t seen the whole thing.
27. My next car will be a hybrid.
28. Unless electric cars are available by then.
29. My husband and I got married by a friend who got ordained on the internet.
30. I watch a lot of “Friends.” If you do, too, you’ll see how this is related to #29.
31. I have all 10 seasons on dvd.
